Louisville women’s basketball rebounds from loss, routs New Hampshire

The No. 21 Louisville women’s basketball team lost to No. 3 South Carolina in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Thursday before defeating New Hampshire 94-43 on Sunday.

The Cardinals were off to a fast start again, and this time, they were able to keep the momentum going. Taj Roberts scored 15 points, had five assists and had four steals in the first five minutes of the game as London led the Wildcats 19-2. She was one of three double-digit scorers on the team, including teammate Skylar Jones who led the team with 15 points.

One week after reaching 1,500 career points against East Tennessee State, Laura Ziegler grabbed her 1,000th rebound and finished the game with five and six points. The St. Joseph’s transfer has been a steady presence in Louisville’s frontcourt, leading the team in rebounding with 7.8 rebounds per game. The Cards’ second rebounder, Anaya Hardy, made her second start this season and contributed 6 points and 9 rebounds to the team’s victory.

Louisville women’s basketball next game

Louisville (7-3) stays at home against Ball State on Wednesday at 9 p.m. before returning to ACC play against No. 10 North Carolina. The Cardinals opened conference action with a 65-54 victory over Clemson on Nov. 16 and are still seeking their first ranked win. Likewise, the Tar Heels have yet to defeat a top-25 opponent after losing to UCLA and Texas (then ranked No. 4 and No. 2, respectively).
