The Bills announced Friday that they were releasing Johnson, but chose to reverse course before the deal was finalized.

Johnson, 29, appeared in 13 games for the Bills last season. He totaled 57 tackles and four passes defended. The eight-year veteran joined the Bills as a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and signed a three-year, $30.7 million contract extension with the team in 2024.

His contract runs until 2027.

Pro Football Focus ranks Johnson 69th among cornerbacks who played at least 20 percent of the maximum snaps at the position last season. In 2024, he was ranked 58th among qualifiers.
