But a guy like Kyle Pitts still has a lot to play for.
Pitts will become a free agent after this season. The former high-draft tight end never quite lived up to his rookie season.
This year, though, Pitts’ performance on the field is even more impressive than he has been since his first year in the NFL. He’s heading toward a free-agent payday.
If Pitts can finish the season strong, he has a chance to earn a lucrative multi-year contract.
The Falcons will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 15 on Thursday Night Football.
Pitts is out of shape, but his free agency opportunities require him to play.

Does Kyle Pitts play tonight?
Pitts is expected to play Thursday night.
He had three limited practices and was officially listed as doubtful with a knee injury.
The Falcons have been relying heavily on Pitts, having twice as many targets as anyone else on the roster over the past few weeks.
It’s worth checking the inactive report at 6:50 p.m. ET to be safe, but considering Pitts has participated in all three of the Falcons’ practices this week, he appears to be trending toward playing.
If he’s on the field, he’s a TE1 player in fantasy football and a primary weapon in Atlanta’s offense.
