It looks like March will be short for the Kentucky Wildcats.
Facing No. 10 seed Santa Clara on Friday afternoon, the seventh-seeded Wildcats took the lead on a deep ball with 2.1 seconds left and trailed by three points. With no timeouts, UK had no choice but to serve the inbounds ball and get up quickly.

Guard Otega Oweh dribbled the ball across half court before draining a Hail Mary 3-pointer that sailed off the backboard and into the net as the buzzer sounded. At the critical moment, the Wildcats eventually won 89-84 and entered overtime.
They advance to the round of 32, where they will face the winner of second-seeded Iowa State and No. 15-seeded Tennessee State.
It’s been a somewhat disappointing year for the Wildcats and coach Mark Pope, who reached the Sweet 16 last season in his first season at his alma mater. A loss could cause some problems heading into year three, but Pope’s team is still alive and looking to pull off an upset on Sunday.
