during the appearance Jimmy Kimmel Live On Wednesday, December 17, the 61-year-old former vice president and 2024 presidential candidate was asked about Biden’s decision not to release documents related to the late billionaire.

President Donald Trump, who has appeared in multiple images and was mentioned in detail in documents, has denied any wrongdoing in his relationship with Epstein, which he said ended around 2004.

“To give you an answer that doesn’t satisfy your curiosity, we – and maybe it will do us a disservice – but we believe strongly and rightly that there should be an absolute separation between what we want to do as a government and what the Department of Justice does,” Harris shared on Kimmel’s show. “We absolutely abide by that and it’s the right thing to do.”

Congress passed a bill in November giving the Trump administration 30 days to release more information about the Epstein investigation.

The bill, called the Epstein Dossier Transparency Act, passed the House by a vote of 427 to 1 and passed the Senate unanimously before being signed into law by Trump on November 19.

On Friday, December 19, a 30-day period expires for the Trump administration to release the remaining Epstein documents, withholding or redacting only those that are classified or that could identify victims or interfere with the federal investigation.

Kimmel asked Harris if she thought the president would actually release all the documents before the deadline.

Harris responded: “It is criminal that he treats the Department of Justice like his personal law firm, operating blindfolded from the independent agency it should be to dispense justice, operating for no one but the country, without favor or fear.”

She added, “So I don’t know that they’re going to do what they say they’re going to do, which is release all the documents that the American people have a right to see.”

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson previously shared a statement with People magazine, claiming that “Democrats’ hoaxes against President Trump have been exposed multiple times, and the Trump administration has done more for Epstein’s victims than Democrats, repeatedly calling for transparency, releasing thousands of pages of documents, and calling for further investigations of Epstein’s Democratic friends.”

Jackson added, “It’s time for the media to stop repeating Democratic talking points and start asking Democrats why they want to be around Epstein after he was convicted.”
