Jeff Bezos is always making some new investments. Amazon’s founder, who has been away from being the company’s CEO for years and also became quite famous for his aerospace company Blue Origin, is reportedly focusing on a new venture.

The billionaire is in early talks to raise $100 billion for a new fund aimed at acquiring manufacturing companies and using artificial intelligence technology to accelerate their path to automation, The Wall Street Journal reported. He recently traveled to the Middle East and Singapore to discuss financing the project and is said to be meeting with the world’s largest asset managers as part of his efforts.

Billed as a “manufacturing transformation vehicle,” the fund will acquire companies in key industrial sectors such as chipmaking, defense and aerospace and is expected to rival SoftBank’s $100 billion technology-focused Vision Fund.

This all comes after Bezos was named co-CEO of Project Prometheus, a new startup that is building artificial intelligence models capable of understanding and simulating the physical world. The plan is to use the technology to improve business profitability.

Bezos still owns about 9% of Amazon, the company he founded in 1994 and has a reported net worth of $230.2 billion. But unlike his predecessor, Mackenzie Scott, he hasn’t been in the news lately for his business endeavors or charitable donations. Instead, most of the headlines Bezos has made since marrying Lauren Sanchez in Venice have been about his new relationship.

That’s what happens when your wedding is that big, with lots of celebrity guests.

The first few months of marriage were reportedly an adjustment for the billionaire. “Lauren’s energy is off the hook,” a source told Rob Shuter, describing the pair’s activities during the 2025 holiday season. “She was jumping, dancing, laughing – and Jeff was holding on for dear life. He looked exhausted.”

Another source said: “He’s happy but clearly he’s tired of being matched with her.”

Just recently, Bezos and Sanchez walked the red carpet at Vanity Fair’s Oscars after-party, where a small interaction between the two caught the internet’s attention. The pair stopped to take photos on the red carpet and were inadvertently photobombed by Nicole Kidman, before Sanchez was seen saying something to Bezos, who quickly walked out of the frame.

It could just be that she was hoping to get a few solo photos, but it sparked all kinds of speculation online. “It turns out money can’t buy class!” one person responded. Someone else poked fun at the interaction, noting, “Lauren: go away hubby. You’re taking away my photo time,” alongside a laughing emoji.

Things get worse. “Anyone who understands human psychology knows that women give men this look when divorce is imminent,” one person wrote. Another added: “You can see the man forcing a smile.”

Whatever the case may be, Bezos seems to be working hard to ensure that the headlines about him are now relevant to business. We’ll see if he succeeds.
