Vincenzo Italia has denied reports that Jens Odegaard was “forgotten” against Bologna after he made it five consecutive wins with a stunning strike against Pisa.

Rossoblu have been in disastrous form at the start of 2026 but have seemed to really turn things around of late, with tonight’s 1-0 result at the Cétilar Arena their fifth win on the bounce in all competitions.

“We had a very good first half and Santiago Castro had two great chances where we could have scored,” the Italian told a news conference.

“There will inevitably be some fatigue after the break, but we also know that everyone has suffered for the results here. We still have a long way to go, but we will seize this three-match Serie A win and hope to continue on this path.”

Bologna competed in the Europa League play-offs on Thursday, knocking out SK Brann to set up a last-16 showdown with fellow Italians Roma.

“The schedule is so tight and we need everyone in the team to contribute,” continued the Italian.

“Riccardo Orsolini played well off the bench and I liked his attitude. Federico Bernardeschi and Niccolò Cambiagi both knew they could be more effective but everything went well today.”

There have been reports in recent months that Odegaard is no longer the Italian’s first choice, putting his future at Bologna in doubt, but the coach has dismissed the suggestions.

“Odegaard once again proved how decisive he can be in this position. He knows when he is called upon, he has to contribute. I certainly haven’t forgotten about him, we just need to give him a break.”

“We’re going to do the same thing with Castro soon and I’m worried about his volume and he might get injured.”

Bologna were forced to make two changes today, the first when Martin Vitik felt dizzy after a powerful shot in the face.

“Vitik and Joao Mario both have bruises on their knees,” insisted the Italian.
