Instagram users have long wanted a feature that would let them use multiple accounts within the app. If you have a personal Instagram account and a business or employer account, managing both accounts can be a chore without support for multiple accounts. Or you might have multiple accounts that you use for different topics. To manage this content using the official Instagram app on your phone, you have to log out of one account and then log into another account every time you want to use another account. Thankfully, the company added support for this feature in recent updates for Android and iPhone.
If you have multiple accounts and have been accessing them on different phones so far, or maybe even using a third-party Instagram app to use both accounts at the same time, then you can breathe a sigh of relief. The official app does the job just fine. This is what you need to do.
How to add another Instagram account
We assume that you have the official Instagram app on your smartphone and that you are logged in with one of your accounts. The following steps will help you log in with all your accounts.
on iPhone
1) Click People icon in the lower right corner.
2) Click gear icon in the upper right corner.
3) Scroll down and click Add account.
4) Log in with your second account.
on android
1) Click People icon in the lower right corner.
2) Click three vertical points in the upper right corner.
3) Scroll down and click Add account.
4) Log in with your second account.
If you have more than two accounts, you can follow the same steps to add more accounts.
How to switch between Instagram accounts
Once you’ve added all your accounts to Instagram, you can switch between them by following the steps below.
on iPhone
1) Click People icon in the lower right corner.
2) Click your username at the top.
3) Click on the account you want to switch to.
on android
1) Click People icon in the lower right corner.
2) Click your username in the upper left corner.
3) Click on the account you want to switch to.
How to log out of your Instagram account
If you only want to sign out of one account, first make sure you’ve switched to that account using the steps above. You can then proceed with logging out by following the steps below.
on iPhone
1) Click People icon in the lower right corner.
2) Click gear icon in the upper right corner.
3) Scroll down and you will find two logout buttons.
4) Click on the first logout button – Exit username. tap quit in the pop-up window.
5) If you want to log out of all accounts, please click Sign out of all accounts. tap quit in the pop-up window.
on android
1) Click People icon in the lower right corner.
2) Click three points in the upper right corner.
3) Scroll down and you will find two logout buttons.
4) Click on the first logout button – Exit username. tap quit in the pop-up window.
5) If you want to log out of all accounts, please click Sign out of all accounts. tap quit in the pop-up window.
