How to Switch Off and Turn On iPhone, iPad With a Damaged Power Button

If you’re an iPhone or iPad user, you might not realize how much power you end up using on your phone. The home button is crucial for browsing the device, and the use of volume buttons and a side mute switch are also obvious, but if your power button stops working, you won’t be able to turn the phone off – or on again.

It’s also easily damaged, and external factors like excessive humidity or dust can cause it to stop working. You can use it without turning off your iOS device, but it’s always nice to be able to turn off your phone if needed. These simple steps to turn off your device without touching the power button can be very convenient.

  1. Open set up.

  2. Go to General > Accessibility.

  3. Scroll down to the marked section interaction and click Assistive touch.

  4. On the next screen, toggle Assistive touch to the green “on” position.

  5. A white circle with a gray frame will appear on the screen. Click the circle to expand it into a large box on the screen.

  7. Click and hold lock screen Until the red and white power icon and text appear on the screen Slide to power off next to it.

  8. Slide the power icon to the right to turn off your iPhone or iPad.

This turns off the device, but what if you want to turn it back on? How else can you power on your iOS device if the power button is broken? The answer is – charge your device. Yes, just connect it to a power outlet or USB port on any computer. The device will turn back on after a few seconds. Once the white screen with the Apple logo appears, you can disconnect the charger or USB cable.
