Grand Theft Auto 5 (also known as GTA V) launched in 2013 and remains one of the most popular games today thanks to its evolving online mode, known as GTA Online. While there is no mobile version of the game, you can actually play it on your Android phone if you want. The game was first released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 before coming to PC. It’s also launching for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Now, GTA 5 will also be available on the latest generation of game consoles, Xbox Series X/Series S and PlayStation 5. You can play GTA 5 on your phone by using several different apps.
You can play GTA 5 on your Android device using Steam Link or Xbox Game Pass. However, both have some prerequisites, such as owning the game on Steam, a desktop computer, a reliable internet connection, and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. With that in mind, here’s how you can play GTA V on your Android device.
Play GTA V on your Android device via Steam Link

Download and log into Steam on your desktop computer.

Download the free Steam Link app from the Google Play Store on your Android device.

Launch the app and you should see the settings screen. Click Get started.

If you have a Steam Controller or a third-party controller that works with your Android device, it can be paired with your phone or tablet. If not, you can use touch controls to play. Click Use touch controls If you don’t have a paired controller, continue.

The application will scan for available PCs running Steam and your PC should show up here.

Click on it and the app will show you a four-digit PIN that you must enter on the desktop Steam client.

Enter your PIN in the pop-up window in the Steam desktop client and click OK.

The Steam Link app will now connect to your desktop client and run a network test. When finished, click OK.

On the next screen, you should see a green checkmark next to your computer’s name and a green checkmark on your touch controller.

On this screen, click start playing.

The Steam Link app will give you remote access to the Steam desktop client via the d-pad and four navigation buttons. Here you can browse all the games you own on Steam. By default, it will show you games optimized for Remote Play.

Search for GTA V and click one. Select on the next screen Play with A button.

You should now be able to play GTA V on your Android device.
Play GTA V on Android with Xbox Game Pass
GTA V returned to Game Pass last month and can be played on Android phones or tablets. In order to play games with Xbox Game Pass, all you need is an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and a fast internet connection. Some games also require a controller, but others can be played with touch controls.
- Download the free Xbox Game Pass app from the Google Play Store.
- You will be asked to register or log in to the app. Use the same credentials as your Xbox Game Pass subscription.
- On the home screen, make sure you are on the Cloud tab.
- Search for GTA V and click Play.
