One of the original Mall of America tenants is about to split.
Hooters is leaving the Bloomington mall later this month, it has been confirmed.
Not only is the fourth-floor restaurant one of the few remaining original tenants from the mall’s opening in 1992, it’s also the last Hooters restaurant in Minnesota.

Details about the reason for the closure have not been released, and Hooters did not respond to a request for comment.
After declaring bankruptcy last year, a group including the original founders purchased 140 of the 198 restaurants in the United States, hoping to refocus its menu and reposition the chain as family-friendly.
In a statement Thursday morning, the company thanked customers for their support.
“To everyone who stopped by to grab some wings, grab a cold beer, celebrate a big win or make some memories here, thank you,” the statement read. “We are deeply grateful to our amazing employees, past and present, who bring enthusiasm, smiles and heart to this restaurant every day.”
The Mall of America restaurant has been the only Minnesota outpost since the Burnsville Hooters closed in 2010, according to a Star Tribune article at the time.
The restaurant’s last day of operation is March 22.
