Honda has confirmed that its 2026 Formula 1 power unit will be unveiled at an event in Tokyo on January 20.
Honda’s partnership with Aston Martin F1 Team will kick off in the 2026 season.
After parting ways with Red Bull at the end of 2025, the Milton Keynes-based company began working with Ford to produce Red Bull powertrains, with the Japanese manufacturer signing an exclusive deal with Aston Martin as its power unit partner.

The power unit launch event will be broadcast live on YouTube. Mibe Toshihiro Mibe, President and CEO of Honda Motor Co., will be in attendance along with Aston Martin Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll and F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali.
“This is the first power unit launched by a Japanese brand under drastically reformed regulations, which is 50% internal combustion and 50% electric,” Honda said in a statement.
“At this event we will share Honda and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team’s desire to take on the challenges of F1, the pinnacle of motorsport. We will also explain the new regulations and showcase our new power units for the upcoming season.”

Honda added: “2026 marks the beginning of a new era for Honda in F1 since it first entered F1 in 1964. Since then, Honda has become one of the most successful power unit manufacturers in the history of the sport.”
In 2026, Formula 1 will see a new wave of regulations including power units with a 50/50 split between combustion engine power and engine power using sustainable fuels.
In addition to the new power unit partnership, Aston Martin will also have former Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey as team principal and managing technical partner from 2026. Andy Cowell will become Silverstone team principal in 2025 and will become chief strategy officer in 2026.
