Heavy, wet snow slows travel in Montco as crews plow into the night

As night falls in Montgomery County, snow falls heavier and visibility worsens as more crews take to the roads.

“It’s pretty long – probably at least until tomorrow night’s plowing,” said Mark Cosma of Warminster.

Roads in Norristown were covered in snow, and some people even hiked through it. Despite low ridership, SEPTA is slowing down to help people get home.

“Some roads are better than others, most roads are slick, but this is a big wet snow, so it’s going to be wet and dangerous,” Cosma said of road conditions.

As the storm approaches, people make sure to stock up on supplies so they can hunker down until the storm is over.

“We probably have enough supplies to last a year, but my wife always needs something else,” said Gerald Nachman of Wayne.

“We had a snowblower, so my husband had it ready and I would sit in it and eat soup,” added Marian Keith, King of Prussia.

Earlier in the day, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed a disaster declaration for the winter storm.

The disaster declaration enables federal funds to be quickly withdrawn and provides state agencies with the resources they need to assist counties and municipalities with disaster relief efforts.

The governor is urging Pennsylvanians to stay off the roads as the storm continues to intensify.
