BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) – Governor Jeff Landry is asking the U.S. Department of Education to investigate all public higher education institutions in Louisiana.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office for Civil Rights launched an investigation into the Louisiana board of trustees earlier this month over concerns about possible race-based priorities in its budget. Landry asked for the expanded investigation in a letter to Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Ridge on Monday.

“Let me be clear: Louisiana has ended woke DEI policies. Discrimination against any student will not be tolerated. This problem began under the previous administration, and we are addressing it. Therefore, I am formally requesting that the investigation be expanded to every public institution of higher education in Louisiana. If violations of federal law exist anywhere in our system, we want them to be corrected.”
