Jackson Merrill and Nick Schnell each hit two-run homers to lift the San Diego Padres to a 7-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday at the Peoria Sports Center. The Padres avenged the Mariners’ loss in the Cactus League opener. JP Sears rebounded strongly, lasting three innings, allowing one run, walking one, and striking out one. The San Diego bullpen was dominant, allowing just one hit over the final six innings of the game. The Padres take on the San Francisco Giants today in Scottsdale, Arizona at 12:05 p.m.
