On March 11, First Majestic Silver announced the results of its 2025 exploration program at the Gerrit Canyon gold mine in Nevada. The campaign included the drilling of 57 holes covering approximately 18,300 meters, focusing on the Mahala, Javelin and Saval targets. The CEO said the discoveries enhanced the potential for expanded mineral resources in the region, identifying opportunities for near-surface open pit mining and deeper underground mining across the company’s 30,000 hectares of land.
Significant drilling highlights were reported in the Mahala-to-Javelin expansion corridor between the Smith and SSX mines. Surface drilling at the Javelin target has shown that the gold mineralization is thicker than previously modeled, with significant intercepts including 7.6 meters grading 9.43 g/t gold. At the Mahala target, exploration intersected 24.4 meters east of the known resource boundary grading 3.44 g/t gold, indicating mineralization remains open to Javelin and may be above the water table in rising formations.
The 2025 program also assesses shallow mineralization adjacent to the Saval target’s historic open pits. In the East Saval area, drill hole SC-25-003 discovered a 51.8 meter interval grading 1.48 g/t Au, which may represent an extension of the Saval trend or a link to the underground SSX Gridiron target. These results, along with various intercept results in the Boilermaker, Murray and Winter’s Creek areas, provide the basis for further investment to determine the geometry and continuity of these gold-bearing systems.
