Erling Haaland sets Premier League record with 100th goal in 111th match for Manchester City

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland became the fastest player in Premier League history to score 100 goals when he opened the scoring against Fulham on Tuesday.

Haaland’s 17th-minute goal marked his century-mark in his 111th game for the club. This broke the long-standing record previously held by Alan Shearer, who scored 100 goals in his 124th Premier League game.

In his second season at Manchester City, Haaland scored his 50th league goal in his 48th game, breaking Andy Cole’s Premier League record.

Haaland has been a goalscorer throughout his career, and this has not changed since joining Manchester City in 2022. He won the Premier League Golden Boot in his first two seasons with 36 and 27 goals respectively.

He is now the 35th player to reach 100 Premier League goals and the first since former Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min in 2023.

This season, in addition to scoring 15 goals in 14 games for Manchester City, the Norwegian international scored 9 goals in 17 games, helping Norway qualify for the 2026 World Cup for the first time since 1988.

Although Haaland broke Shearer’s record, the former Blackburn and Newcastle striker still became the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer with 260 career goals.
