Ascension Parish Public Schools announced Dineska McZeal as the new principal of Gonzales Middle School.
“Ms. McZell brings a unique blend of teaching expertise, leadership experience and a deep commitment to student achievement,” Principal Edith Walker said in a release. “Having served in a variety of roles, she understands how to support students and staff. Her proven track record at Ascension Public Schools makes her well-positioned to lead and continue to build a strong, student-centered school community.”
McZeal has served the diocesan school system since 2009, beginning her teaching career at St. James Parish, according to the release.
She has served as a teacher and basketball coach, a mentor, a master teacher and other leadership positions, according to the release.

McZell previously served as assistant principal at Donaldsonville High School and East Ascension High School. Most recently, she served as assistant principal at Prairieville High School.
“For 23 years, I have been working with students at the high school level, educating and preparing them to enter the higher-level workforce. Now, I will be helping middle school students transition into high school,” McZell said in the release. “I don’t take this responsibility lightly because I know this is a critical time in the lives of our young people as they develop themselves and who they want to be.”
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Southern University and A&M College, and earned two master’s degrees from Southeastern Louisiana University: a Master of Science degree in telecommunications and a Master of Education degree in educational leadership.
She is married to Ron McZeal and has three children: Dexter, Diniaa and D’Ron.
