Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones may participate in training camp next summer.
Jones suffered an Achilles injury in the Colts’ Week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and underwent season-ending surgery on Tuesday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jones’ injury will sideline him for “six to eight months,” which will make him “fully available” for training camp.
“It is still believed Jones will play in Indianapolis next year,” Schefter wrote, “but his contract expires after this season and he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.”
As several NFL insiders have already pointed out, there’s a bit of a mystery about what Jones’ next contract will look like, or how negotiations with the Colts or other teams will play out.
Schefter added that he and the team had not had any contract extension discussions before Jones’ injury.

“Jones is expected to be interested in returning to Indianapolis, but he may have other options,” Schefter said. “The Colts are expected to try to re-sign Jones, but the issue is cost.”
