Iowa Cubs defeat Louisville Bats 15-9 (red team)

There wasn’t a lot of good pitching in Des Moines today, and the wind was steady toward left field. starter Charlie Barnes Regardless, the pitching was solid, giving up three runs on five hits in five innings. Two of those five hits were solo home runs. Barnes struck out five and walked two.

Tyler Santana He allowed five runs in just two innings and gave up two more solo homers. Colin Snyder Two hits allowed one run in the eighth inning, but Iowa State scored seven runs in the bottom of the inning to take the win. Snyder walked one, hit one batter and didn’t strike out anyone in his one inning.

Ryan Jensen The score went 1-2-3 in the ninth inning and he struck out without a save.

second baseman Pedro Ramirez Two homers and eight RBIs today. Ramirez hit his first home run with the bases loaded in the fifth inning. His second home run was his eighth grand slam. He also hit a two-run single in the seventh inning, tying the score at 8-8.

Ramirez went 3-for-5 from the field. Those two home runs gave him seven home runs this year. His career high in a season is eight. The eight RBIs tied a franchise record set multiple times, last set by Ian Stewart in 2013.

right fielder Dylan Carlson In the fourth Laminin hit a solo home run. He went 1-for-5 from the field.

center fielder Brett Bateman It’s a perfect three for three, with double rooms and a walk-in. He scored four times.

third baseman BJ Murray Doubled twice in a 3-on-4 game. He also walked once, drove in three times and scored three times.

Ramirez’s first home run went 397 feet.

The Grand Slam score is 412.

Ramirez contributed on both sides of the ball.

Carlson’s home run was his second in two games.

One of Murray’s doubles got a little help from the sun and wind.

The Knoxville Smoky Mountains were defeated 8-4 by the Chattanooga Lookouts (Reds).

Luis Martinez Gomez He retired in order in the seventh inning, but he got out in the eighth inning and got into a lot of trouble. Martinez-Gomez gave up five runs on three hits in 1.1 innings, loaded the bases, and ultimately lost the game. He also struck out a batter. Martinez-Gomez didn’t knock anyone out.

DH Owen Ayers He had his first Double-A hit, an RBI single, in the first inning. Ayers went 1 for 4 from the field.

left fielder Jordan Nwogu It was 1 for 2, with two walks. He scored one point.

right fielder Andy Gariola A two-run single in the fifth inning gave Knoxville the lead. He went 1-for-4 from the field.

The South Bend Cubs lost 8-5 in a heroic battle against the Dayton Reds.

Nazir Muller Pitched only the first inning, but he took the loss after allowing two runs on one hit and two walk-offs. One of the two runs was unearned. Mueller hit a shot.

first baseman Cole Mathis Hit a pair of doubles in a three-on-two match. He also walked twice and stole a base. He scored on a two-run homer in the ninth inning. Matisse himself scored twice. In just two games at High-A, Mathis has had three doubles.

center fielder Kane Kepley 1-for-4 with a walk and two steals. He scored twice.

Two rounds of singles Cad Snell. He went 1-for-5 from the field.

myrtle beach pelicans

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans couldn’t fly with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Astros), 12-8.

Noah Eades Two runs were hit in the first inning, two more in the second, and three in the third. He allowed seven runs on seven hits and six ERA in three innings and lost the game. Two of those seven hits were two-run home runs. Edes struck out one, walked no one, and hit one batter.
