The Cincinnati Bengals improved their pass rush with Boye Mafe in NFL free agency.
But there’s a chance the Bengals aren’t done yet.
Al Golden’s Bengals defense still needs rotational pass-rushing help. It also continues to need veteran leadership to help first-round projects like Myles Murphy and Seamus Stewart.

Adding Jonathan Allen in free agency helps the rotation and leadership perspective.
But it’s hard to ignore the fact that names like the New Orleans Saints’ Cameron Jordan are still around.
Jordan recently told reporters he’s talking about two or three teams in NFL free agency, and ESPN’s Katherine Terrell quoted this: “Value means position, rotation, money, but more importantly, if I want to get 10, 12, 13 sacks next season, I want to be in the best position.”
Technically, maybe Jordan doesn’t have room for that kind of individual production with the Bengals, and they’re giving young guys a chance. But if he can help bolster the defense, there’s definitely room to contend for the playoffs.

For the Bengals, Jordan may turn 37 in July, but he’s still extremely productive: He had just 10.5 sacks last year. He ranks 24th in PFF’s 115 games played.
If the price is right, one would think the Bengals could ignore their old rules regarding age in free agency because Jordan could bring rotational production and guidance.
