Charles Barkley says former baseball player Vince Coleman helped him reconnect with Michael Jordan

Q: You’re a great player, man. One of the best ever. But when you talk about ring culture, I guess it’s just lazy people and ring culture doesn’t necessarily validate elites like you. Do you think people are getting lazier in conversation when it comes to evaluating their careers? Patrick Ewing: I’m not saying people are getting lazy. I think you know all of us, I don’t care what sport you play, everyone has a goal at the beginning of the year. My goal is to win the championship. Growing up in Boston, all people there talked about was Bill Russell and his 11 championship rings. So I thought, I’m going to get 11 rings like Bill! Then in college I was a finalist three years in a row. So, I’m like in the NBA, yeah, I’m going to get a ring. But when you get there, you realize how difficult it is to get a ring or even get there. I had the pleasure of going there twice. When we got there the second time, I was hurt. I tore my Achilles tendon, so I couldn’t play. But I don’t think I don’t have a ring, or Charles Barkley doesn’t have a ring, or all the other great players who play this game don’t have a ring. I don’t think that takes away from what they accomplished. I think we all did something special to get where we did, but there was no way we were going to get that elusive championship. — YouTube on April 22, 2026

Patrick Ewing on playing against Michael Jordan: You knew he was good. You know he’s very athletic. You know he’s talented. So we did the McDonald’s game together. I also visited North Carolina when he was there. He was committed, but I think they brought him back just to convince me to come to North Carolina. At the time I thought there were others who might be better than him, but what separated him from a lot of people was that belief. He has confidence in himself. He has the drive and I think the athletic ability. I think all this sets him apart from the rest. — YouTube on April 22, 2026

“We’re not like Prince William and Prince Harry,” Buckley continued. “We’ve always loved each other, but really, we talked within the last 72 hours,” he said. “We decided that as soon as basketball was over we were going to get together and play golf.” Barkley said in February 2023 that he had not spoken to Jordan in the decade since the Chicago Bulls icon was disdained by Barkley’s criticism. Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan may be repairing their friendship. The two former NBA stars, both 63, ended their friendship a few years ago after Jordan took issue with Barkley’s comments about Jordan’s ownership of the Charlotte Hornets. But now, Buckley said the former friends may be able to put their feud to rest. “We had a conversation,” Buckley said on Sirius XM’s Mad Dog Unleashed on Friday, April 17. “After basketball is over we get together and play golf.” — April 20, 2026 People

Barkley appeared on “Mad Dog Unleashed” and told “Mad Dog” Chris Russo that he and Jordan would be spending time together after the NBA season ends. “We had a conversation,” Chuck said. “As soon as basketball is over we’re going to get together and play golf.” “We’re not like Prince William and Prince Harry. We’ve always had a lot of love for each other. But we talked over the last 72 hours and we decided that as soon as basketball is over we’re going to get together and play golf.” — April 18, 2026 AOL

Oh, no, he didn’t: Chuck on Bucks: “They’ve got some punks in that damn locker room in Milwaukee. When you leak what happened in a team meeting, you’re a punk. That’s just a punk move in my opinion” – 4/13/2026 x.com

Barry Jackson: Bam says if Wizards do what Charles Barkley suggested in 83-point game tomorrow and foul him hard and put him on his butt, he’ll shoot 43 free throws again — 4/3/2026 x.com

Charles Barkley on Bam Adebayo: I really like him as a person. I think he represents everything that is good about the sport. Obviously there were things I didn’t like about that game: the fouls, giving him the ball every time… Ernie Johnson: He said if you want to blame someone, blame Wizards head coach Brian Keefe. He said he shouldn’t have waited until I was 70 before he started throwing another one at me. Barkley: Yeah, but like I said, Bam, great accomplishment. People will debate, but I would never say anything bad about Bam because I love him and respect him. He represents everything good about the NBA. — YouTube March 20, 2026

Bam Adebayo set the internet alight on Tuesday when he scored 83 points in the Miami Heat’s 150-129 victory over the Wizards. Some who witnessed the feat didn’t like how it turned out. The game was one-sided enough for the Heat to sit Adebayo on the floor under normal circumstances. But the team kept the All-Star center in the game and continued to feed him even though victory was already within reach. Buckley was upset for a different reason. The Hall of Fame power forward appeared on ESPN Tip-off on Saturday and blasted the Wizards for having “no pride whatsoever.” “I’m sick of the Wizards,” Barkley said. “As a competitor, you’ve got to get dirty. … When you’re down 20 points and the game’s over and now a team is saying, ‘Seize the day,’ you’re disrespecting me. I think the Wizards, they don’t have any pride and obviously they’re losing, but you still have to have pride. If a guy does that, you’ve got to knock him down –” — Larry Brown Sports March 15, 2026
