Egypt’s Pyramid FC assistant coach Mohamed Naji “Geddo” has identified three teams that he considers to be the main contenders for this season’s African Champions League title.
Al Ahly leads the way, followed by Pyramids and Al Hilal
talking MBC MasrThe former Egypt international named Ahly as favorite to lift the trophy. He then named Pyramid FC as the second-strongest contender, before naming Al Hilal of Sudan as third.

Gedo emphasized that the Pyramids had a strong and competitive season in every aspect. According to him, the team is one of the best teams in this tournament both defensively and offensively, which enhances their ambitions in the mainland.
He also highlighted the key differences between the group stages and the knockout rounds, with the latter requiring more concentration, tactical discipline and clinical finishes in decisive moments. Still, he remains confident in his team’s ability to overcome the quarterfinal hurdles.
As a reminder, Al Ahli will face Tunisia Sporting in the quarter-finals, while Pyramid will face Morocco’s AS FAR in a match similar to last season’s.
