Boston is clinging to a playoff spot, and the Bruins may look to improve their blueline and add more points. Boston has been linked to multiple players before the deadline, but now it appears the team may be considering a blockbuster trade with a team.

DailyFaceoff’s NHL insider Anthony Di Marco reported Friday that Boston is interested in multiple players from the St. Louis Blues, which could lead to a larger trade.

“The St. Louis Blues are another team the Bruins have had discussions with,” DiMarco wrote. “The Blues have several notable players on the trade block. It seems no coincidence that Blues Assistant General Manager Tim Taylor and Vice President of Hockey Operations Peter Chiarelli were in attendance at last night’s Bruins game.”

DiMarco reports that the Bruins are interested in linebackers Colton Pareko and Justin Faulk, as both can be defensive backs to bolster the team’s blue line.

DiMarco added that in addition to the guard, the Bruins are also interested in 26-year-old star counterattacker Robert Thomas and Blues captain Brayden Schenn.

“Thomas, 26, has an AAV value of $8.125 million through 2031 and fits the mold exactly what the Bruins are looking for. Thomas’ price is astronomical — general manager Doug Armstrong has set a hefty price tag for all of his assets, and according to several league sources, he’s taking advantage of the lack of sellers in the market and taking a hard line in negotiations — as the lack of high-end centers continues to be an issue across the league.”

It remains to be seen whether the Bruins and Blues end up making a trade. But DiMarco believes Boston is looking for aggressive ways to bolster their roster for a playoff push.

The Bruins are 33-20-5 and retain the final wild card spot.
