The offseason will feature free agency and the NFL Draft as the Broncos will look to replenish their roster to ensure they finish atop the AFC. But first, some smaller decisions need to be made, starting with the players who will finish the season on the practice squad. For these players, teams can decide whether to sign them to reserve/future contracts, make them part of the 90-man roster in the offseason, or allow them to become free agents.
The Broncos have a total of eight players signed to future contracts, but on Monday the deadline passed for the rest of the practice squad to get contracts, and those players will now enter the free-agent pool.
The Broncos have chosen not to offer new contracts to the following players.
Elijah Moore among 10 Broncos players set to hit free agency
Elijah Moore, WR
When the Bills cut Elijah Moore mid-season, the Broncos decided to give him a chance and signed him to the practice squad. He wasn’t promoted to the 53-man roster until the Broncos suffered injuries at the position in the postseason.

He caught a pass for four yards in a loss to the Patriots, his only catch in a Broncos uniform.
Michael Bundy, wide receiver
It was a bit surprising to see the Broncos move on from Michael Bandy, as he has spent the past two seasons on the team’s practice squad and was a game-day upgrade multiple times. He has four catches for 50 yards and a touchdown this season.
Kaelise Rowan, WR
Kyrese Rowan was an undrafted pick out of Utah State who spent the entire season on the practice squad but clearly didn’t make enough of an effort to stick around.
Brandon Johnson, WR
Brandon Johnson’s second tenure in Denver was short-lived. He was signed before the AFC Championship Game after injuries to Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant, but he was little more than an emergency option.

Ben DiNucci, QB
Similar to Johnson, the Broncos named Ben DiNucci as the team’s third quarterback after losing to Buffalo in the divisional round of the playoffs.
Marcedes Lewis, TE
This season, when the Broncos lifted 41-year-old Marcedes Lewis off the practice squad for one game, he became the oldest tight end to play in the NFL. The 20-year veteran will likely retire.
Patrick Murtagh, TE
Patrick Muta, a player who entered the league through the international player pathway, has spent the entire season on Denver’s practice squad, but that’s all the team needs to see. In 2026, he will be looking for his fourth team in four seasons.

Jaylon Christian, OL
The Broncos signed former third-round pick Geron Christian in November to add depth to the offensive line. He did not play in any games for the team, which was his eighth different NFL team.
Tanner McAllister, S
The Broncos waived Tanner McAllister last June but brought him back to the practice squad in January. He will be looking for a new team again. He also spent time with the Jets and Chiefs this season.
Delalyn Turner-Yell, S
A 2022 fifth-round pick, Delarrin Turner-Yell’s time with the team appears to be over. He returned to action this season after nearly two years in a game, but unfortunately suffered a knee injury in that game. He finished the season on the practice squad injured list.

Turner-Yell’s career is currently hampered by injuries and he may find it difficult to return to action at this stage of his career.
