Open Thread: Colorado Avalanche vs. Vancouver Canucks (7:00 p.m. MT)

After getting back on track with a 7-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens, the Avalanche will face the Vancouver Canucks tonight in Denver. This will be the second of three regular season games between these two teams, with Colorado winning the first game.

Colorado Avalanche (18-1-6)

Colorado’s ten-game winning streak came to an end on Friday when they lost to the Minnesota Wild in a shootout. They then bounced back against the Montreal Canadiens, winning 7-2 as mentioned earlier. Your superstars were your superstars in that game, with Martin Nekas dishing out three assists, but your second line was also very good and did a lot of the heavy lifting, with Brock Nelson and Gabriel Landeskog scoring two goals apiece. Tonight, you need people to step up and compete against the Canucks again. Val Nichushkin is expected to return to the lineup, so the Colorado Eagles haven’t recalled him yet.

Vancouver Canucks (10-13-3)

The Canucks come into this game on the other side of the Colorado Island having won just two of their past ten games. That being said, as Colorado learned the last time they beat this team in overtime, they can’t take it lightly. They still have a bunch of talented players on their roster, as well as some that will make you pay for being lazy or making mistakes. To ensure a win tonight, Colorado needs to pay attention to their details and make sure they take this team seriously.
