Barcelona have provided an update on Andreas Christensen’s fitness after he missed Sunday’s game against Villarreal due to injury.
The Dane was withdrawn from the squad due to problems in pre-match training and now there is news that he has suffered a partially torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Here is the club’s official statement:
“First-team player Andreas Christensen unfortunately suffered a knee sprain during training on Saturday, resulting in a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. After examining the player, we have opted for a conservative treatment plan. The player’s recovery time will depend on his progress.”
There is no confirmation yet on when Christensen will return, but early reports suggest he will be out for several months, which would be a huge blow to the club and player, especially as he is out of contract next summer.
Christensen’s injury has also left Barca with a shortage in the backline, meaning the club could look to bring in a player in the January transfer window.
