Ubisoft announced this week that a third-person update for Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier will be released on December 5. The first-person action-adventure game, launching in 2023, also received New Game+ mode and other improvements as part of the update. After the free update, the game will also launch a story expansion “From the Ashes” on December 19.
Ubisoft released a new trailer on Monday, confirming the release date for the free update. The trailer shows off the combat in Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier in both first- and third-person perspectives. Players who own the game on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X will receive the third-person update for free.
“Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier” update details
Developer Massive Entertainment has redesigned the animation, controls, audio, and camera systems for a new third-person mode that can be activated with the press of a button during combat and exploration.
In addition to the new perspective, the update will also add the long-awaited “New Game+” mode to Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier. This mode will allow players to replay the main story with unlocked inventory and skills. It will also add stronger enemies and unlock new skill trees and more powerful gear.
The free update will be followed by the main story expansion Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier – From Ashes, inspired by the upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ashes. The DLC will be released on December 19, the same day as the movie. The Ashes to Ashes expansion is available to pre-order on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
“Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier” will be released on December 7, 2023. The action-adventure game, which lets players explore Pandora as the Na’vi, has previously received two story expansions – Skybreaker and Secret of the Spire – as well as other quality-of-life updates that rebalanced the game’s combat and added a 40 fps mode, among other improvements and fixes.
