Athletic RB recruit commits to Georgia football

The Georgia Bulldogs earned the commitment through a familiar connection. Running back Nick Peal, the half-brother of former Georgia cornerback Chris Peal (now with the Syracuse Orange), has committed to the Bulldogs, according to Benjamin Wolk of 247Sports.

Peal is a 2026 recruit who is 6 feet tall and weighs 210 pounds. He spent his senior season at Roswell High School, gaining 1,395 yards and 19 touchdowns. He had a 40 time of 4.48, a 41-inch vertical jump and a bench press of 405 pounds. He can squat over 600 pounds and clean up to 385 pounds. Peel has the size and speed to make it to the next level, but he’s not ranked among recruits.

Still, when the wave of commitments and signings from his class hit, Peel didn’t draw much interest; having just received offers from Delta State and Gardner-Webb. However, the Bulldogs were quietly hanging around, and now, he’s committed a full scholarship to them.

“If you had told me this was going to happen after my last game at Roswell, I would have told you you were crazy,” Nick Peele told DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell. “But of course there’s another part of me that’s like that because I’ve always had faith in myself. From day one, ever since I started playing this sport. I knew what kind of kid I was and I knew that if I believed in God, anything could happen. So I kept praying.”

The Bulldogs signed Peel’s half-brother Chris in the 2023 class. He transferred to the Syracuse Orange and played under former Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown. However, Nick Peele will achieve his seemingly impossible dream of becoming a Georgia Bulldog.

Peel and four-star defensive back Chase Calicut are the only two unsigned recruits left in Georgia’s 2026 class. It seems unlikely that Calicut will sign with Georgia. He also participated in other projects this spring.
