Athena’s dominance as the #ForeverChampion remains intact as she defeated Persephone in the second of what was billed as the double main event. This is also the third Women’s Championship match on the card.
The winner was accompanied by MIT’s newest member, Diamanté. Billie Starkz, who lost her first match to become the inaugural Women’s Thoroughbred Champion, was nowhere to be seen. As soon as the match started, Athena knocked Persephone to the mat, slapped her on the back of the head, and celebrated. She teased her with her strength as she was hit in the face. Persephone attacks her outside. Diamante distracts her so Athena can jump on her from the steps.

Persephone spent most of the game focused on Athena’s back. They fought again outside. Persephone threw her onto the announce table. When Athena tried to get up, she put her back in the ring and kicked her. They hit a stereo clothesline and both women are down. They hit each other with knees and eventually stood up and beat each other up. Athena kicked her in the face. Persephone sends her to the mat with a big boot.
Athena jumped through the ropes and onto Persephone. She went for another but was caught and thrown overhead. Persephone prepares to fire an energy bomb, but Diamante pulls her down. Persephone responded by knocking her down and knocking out both women with a dive. Persephone sends Athena into the ring and pins her for two with a shotgun kick. She continued to focus on Athena’s back, hitting Athena repeatedly and placing her in a Texas Shamrock, but Athena eventually escaped to the ropes.

Athena defeated Persephone to retain the ROH Championship

Athena sends Persephone into the ropes and hits a leg hook after a springboard moonsault. Athena turned Persephone over, but Persephone chose the razor’s edge. Athena lifted her on her shoulders, but Persephone grabbed the rope. Persephone chose the Razor’s Edge, but Athena reversed into Koji’s Clutch. Persephone stood up, but Athena rolled over. Persephone rolled her up, but the champion got out. Athena covers her and goes back to the Koji clutch, but Persephone grabs the ropes. Athena kicked her hard in the chest and told her she didn’t belong. Persephone double-attacked her and hit the Aurora Borealis twice before hitting the Back Slam. Persephone thrust her spear at Athena, but did not cover her. She connects to Razor’s Edge for $2.99. Persephone repeatedly struck Athena on the head and stomped on her in frustration. She made it to the top, but Athena defeated her and followed with O Face for the victory.

After the match, Diamante and Starkz celebrated with her in the ring. There were still three full years and five days until Athena became champion.
