It’s a weird situation where we’re doing great but we’re feeling anxious.
I’ve always said that no one at the club is truly irreplaceable, but Jens Bertel Ascu made me think differently. As time goes by, I become more and more concerned about who will be at the helm next season.

The clamor surrounding the manager’s future – particularly a move to Celtic – is growing louder. However, I think it would be a dangerous gamble for him to jump ship too early.
The pressure and expectations are completely different between Motherwell and Celtic. For us, a good season included reaching the quarter-finals of two cup competitions and finishing in the top six in the league, whereas at Celtic even a draw was seen as a disaster.
With the future of European football looking promising, I hope this will continue to help Lanarkshire-based Ascu, although the prospect of joining Celtic would be a headache for most managers.
Motherwell’s Askew effect is reflected in the increased attendances and we remain in the title race after last weekend’s win over Dundee United, while the established side dropped points in the derby draw.

While it’s great to be in the championship mix, actually finishing third is a boost for us now.
Motherwell urged fans to go home and with over 7,000 in attendance it’s safe to say we heard them.
I can only think of a few games at Fir Park that had that many home fans in attendance, and almost all of them were this season.
