Alabama basketball up several spots in USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

The Alabama Crimson Tide opened SEC basketball action with an 89-74 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at Coleman Coliseum.

Aden Holloway tied a career and season high with 26 points on 6-of-8 3-point shooting, and Alabama took 15 shots from beyond the arc in a game that was no doubt in the making.

The Crimson Tide won their fourth straight game against Kentucky dating back to last season, leading by as many as 21 points. Alabama’s Labaron Philon scored 17 points and Houston Mallette scored 14 points. The Tide’s 7-foot center Noah Williamson, an offseason poacher from Bucknell, contributed 10 points in 18 minutes off the bench for Alabama.

The Tide outrebounded Kentucky 41-37.

Alabama is ranked No. 12 in Week 10 of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, up three spots from last week. The Crimson Tide are ranked one spot below the Nebraska Cornhuskers and one spot ahead of Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans.

Alabama basketball schedule: When does the Crimson Tide next play?

Alabama (10-3) will travel to Nashville on Wednesday for its first SEC road game of the 2025-26 season against the Vanderbilt Commodores (13-0). Alabama-Vanderbilt will tip off at 8 p.m. Central Time. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
