Paul Wanner was one of Bayern Munich’s most high-profile prospects of the past decade, but his long-awaited first-team breakthrough never materialized.
As a result, Wanner moved to PSV last summer and began to show his quality after a slow start… just in time for next week’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

“It won’t be an ordinary game. I will see old teammates and familiar faces again. We know that Bayern is one of the best teams in the world at the moment. But we also have quality and we want to make it difficult for Bayern and try to beat them at home. I’m really looking forward to this game,” Wanner told Sport Bild (photo by @iMiaSanMia).
When Wanner decided to leave the club, Bayern Munich sporting board member Max Eberl criticized the 20-year-old’s unwillingness to compete for jobs.
“There are always different opinions in football; that’s part of it. I’m happy to be here. There’s no discord, everything is fine. I’m very grateful to Bayern because I learned a lot there and had some great experiences,” Wanner said.
When asked if he still had any thoughts about Bavaria’s future, Werner dismissed the question.

“Right now I’m at PSV and that’s my full focus and we have big plans here. The Bayern chapter is not on my mind right now because I want to focus on my performance here,” Wanner said.
