Trump threatens to pull endorsement of US Representative Lauren Boebert after she campaigns for Massie

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday threatened to launch a primary challenge against hardline conservative U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, a staunch Trump ally, after she campaigned for maverick Rep. Thomas Massie in a Kentucky district.

• “Boebert is campaigning for the worst ‘Republican’ congressman in the history of our country, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, and anyone stupid enough deserves a good fight in the primaries!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

• Trump has vowed to oust Massey, a Republican who defied the president in Congress over major legislation and the war with Iran and led his party’s push to release government documents about the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

• The president’s attempt to oust Massie tests his grip on the Republican Party.

• Trump’s social media post came hours after Boebert appeared for Massey, who faces Trump-backed challenger Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL, in Kentucky’s Republican primary on Tuesday.

• “Anyone interested in running against weak-willed Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District?” Trump posted. “Just let me know, or announce your candidacy, and I’ll support you!”
