Tilak Varma named India A captain; Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Priyansh Arya included for Sri Lanka tri-series

New Delhi: The BCCI on Thursday announced the 15-member India A squad for the upcoming one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka, with 23-year-old batsman Tilak Varma captaining the team for the June assignment.

The three-match series will include India A, Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, with all white-ball matches scheduled to be played in Dambulla. The tour will also include two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Galle after the limited overs.

The team features several rising stars from the ongoing domestic and franchise circuits including Priyansh Arya and teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi among others. Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag has been appointed vice-captain, underscoring the selectors’ focus on developing young leadership.

Priyansh has impressed in recent white-ball games and has earned a well-deserved spot alongside Sooryavanshi, one of the most talked-about young prospects in Indian cricket. The selectors also included goalkeepers Prabhusimran Singh and Kumar Kushagla.

Among the bowlers, Anshul Kamboj was rewarded for his outstanding performances, including his impressive run in the IPL 2026 season. Other notable names in the team include Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey and Vipraj Nigam.

The BCCI confirmed that the line-up for the red-ball leg of the tour, which includes the two multi-day matches in Galle, will be announced separately at a later date.
