Barcelona are entering a critical period and one of the club’s top priorities is securing Hansi Flick’s long-term future.

The German tactician’s contract expires at the end of next season. This week could be crucial for Flick’s future as his agent Pini Zahavi has arrived at Barcelona.

While the main focus of the visit will be sorting out Robert Lewandowski’s future, Flick’s future will also be discussed.

Barcelona ready to renew contract

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is preparing to make a formal offer to Flick to extend his contract until June 2027.

Two options are being considered. The first is an extension to 2028, with an option for a further extension to 2029.

The second contract is a new three-year contract that runs from 2026 to 2029.

Either way, the intent is clear. Barcelona want Flick to stay and are ready to concretize this with a formal proposal.

The timing makes sense. Flick is on the verge of winning back-to-back La Liga titles and the club is building a project around its current squad, demanding continuity from the top.

The German coach has previously said he wants to win the Champions League with Barcelona and will attend the Camp Nou when it opens at full capacity, both of which are a firm sign of his long-term commitment.

Flick’s continuity is also crucial to Barcelona’s plans, with a host of young players expected to blossom under the German in the coming years.
