Trout homers and Zeferzahn escapes a jam in the 9th as the Angels beat the White Sox 4-3

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Mike Trout, Jorge Soler and Zach Neto hit home runs and Ryan Zeferzahn finished the game with the bases loaded in the ninth inning and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3 on Tuesday night.

Zevyan hit a batter and walked two in the ninth before Edgar Cuero retired on a grounder for his first save of the season and third in 10 career chances. The right-hander struck out rookie home run leader Munetaka Murakami (tied with the Yankees’ Aaron Judge for 14th) and added a walk-off single in the eighth inning.

Trout hit his 11th homer of the season and 415th of his career in the first inning after scoring two runs off Sam Aldegheri, striking out Eric Feder (0-4) in the first.

Soler then hit his eighth home run with one out, tying the game at 2.

Neto hit his first home run since April 10, his sixth of the season, with a two-out game-winner in the fifth inning. Trout loaded the bases for the second time and then Nolan Schanuel hit a two-run homer to make it 4-2, chasing Fedde. Trout reached base four times and had a single in the eighth inning.

Neto had a single in the third inning, ending an 0-for-23 drought, and was picked off.

Chase Meidroth hit his second home run in the seventh inning off Sam Bachman to give Chicago a 4-3 lead. Colson Montgomery and Miguel Vargas both extended the Red Sox’s hitting streak to 18 games.

Jose Fermin (1-1) pitched a scoreless fifth pitch to earn the win. Aldeghay, in his sixth career start, allowed two runs on four hits in four innings.

Feder allowed four runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings.

The top four hitters in the Angels lineup have won consecutive games for the first time since June 18, 2021, against the Tigers.

White Sox LHP Noah Schultz (2-1, 2.53) ends the series Wednesday against Angels RHP Walbert Urena (0-3, 3.86).
