Korda, 27, is aiming for her third Grand Slam title and first since winning the event in 2024.

“I feel really good,” she said. “I hit where I wanted to hit and missed where I wanted to hit.”

American amateur Farrah O’Keefe also shot a bogey-free 69 to improve to 7 under par, tied for third place with compatriot Ryan O’Toole and South Korea’s Ina Yoon.

Korda started the new year in good form, winning the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacation Club Championship and finishing second for the third time in a row.

“Chasing, leading, whatever – I feel like I’m just happy to have the opportunity to be a part of it,” said the world No. 66.

Her compatriot Gino Titicul will not compete this weekend as the world number one bogeyed two of her last five holes to miss the cut by one shot.

England’s Mimi Rhodes also missed the tournament after shooting a 6-over 78 in a 3-under round on Thursday, with three bogeys and a double bogey in the final five holes.
