The Seattle Seahawks are the final pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and such is life for the defending Super Bowl champions. Expectations were high that they would trade up late in the draft for more money, but once again they made a choice.

Jadarian Price, running back, Notre Dame
Yes, the Seahawks selected a running back in the first round. Kenneth Walker left for the Kansas City Chiefs, Zach Charbonnet was injured, and the only addition in free agency was backup Emmanuel Wilson of the Green Bay Packers. Price himself was the backup running back for Jeremiyah Love, who went No. 3 overall to the Arizona Cardinals.
Price didn’t touch the ball a lot (in fact, he only had 295 total in three seasons), but he showed plenty of NFL talent even in his limited appearances with the Fighting Irish.
Here’s The Athletic’s Dane Brugler’s overview of Price:
Price was a part-time commit at Notre Dame, where he was the primary backup behind Jeremiah Love in offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock’s various running schemes (counter, pull, outside zone). Despite not making a single start in four years in South Bend, he has been the RB1 at most FBS programs and has been consistently productive when given the chance (6.2 yards per carry in 2025). He also made an impact on special teams play, becoming the first player in Notre Dame history to have multiple touchdown catches of 100 yards or more in the same season.
With a square, low pad, Price can shift gears quickly to anticipate lanes and cut through them. He can sweep behind the baseline to escape pursuit and uses his blocking cleverly to create space to run. He’s averaging less than 10 offensive touches per game in both 2024 (7.8) and 2025 (9.9), so he’ll have plenty of tread on his tires when he enters the league.
“He had a great pro day,” Seahawks general manager John Schneider said. “I’m very good friends with his agent. His agent came to him a few years ago and said, ‘Hey, you need to improve on the passing game’ or something like that, so he’s going to listen to him. Go work with the receiver group, work with those guys,
The same goes for the receivers coach. I just think it’s a really cool story, these guys were also drafted in the first round, coming from the same school. This is really the story you’ve been watching all fall. I mean, these two guys are so dynamic. Different runners. I think it’s like talking to you [Jaxon Smith-Njigba]just like his high school career in Texas. Like 5,000 yards and 55 touchdowns. “

“The Seahawks love to run the ball,” Price said during a media conference call Thursday night. “You look at what they did in the Super Bowl and what really got them this far and winning it all. You’ve got to run the ball. What I can do in the backfield, protect the quarterback and catch the ball out of the backfield is amazing, but also the stretch play. Out of zone, that’s my bread and butter. Just being able to make a decisive move and then
become vertical. “
Welcome to Seattle, Jadarian! He is the Seahawks’ first RB drafted in the first round since Rashaad Penny in 2018.
