ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Lenin Sosa hit a two-run double in the three-run eighth inning, reliever Luis Vallande rescued embattled closer Jeff Hoffman by eliciting a game-ending double grounder and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-2 on Tuesday night.
Hoffman struck out Zach Neto in the top of the ninth, but Mike Trout singled and Joe Adell and Jorge Soler were hit by pitches to load the bases. An RBI single by pinch-hitter Yoán Moncada made it 4-2.

Toronto coach John Schneider pulled Huffman over to Wallander, who needed just one to score a 4-6-3 double off Nolan Sanuel, upholding the view after a lengthy review. Shortstop Andres Jimenez’s relay pitch beat Sanuel, who slid head first.
Ernie Clement struck out Drew Pomeranz (0-2) with one out in the eighth. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was intentionally walked, and Sosa hit his double to the right-center field wall for a 3-1 lead. Eloy Jiménez followed with an RBI single and Toronto’s Tyler Rogers retired in order in the second half.
Blue Jays starting pitcher Patrick Corbin allowed one run and two hits in five innings. Reliever Spencer Myers pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings and lefty Mason Fluharty (1-0) got two outs in the seventh.
Jimenez scored two points for the Blue Jays, who have won three consecutive games.

Angels starter Jake Kochanovich had a solid performance, allowing one run and five hits in 5 2/3 innings, but Los Angeles suffered its fourth straight loss.
Mike Trout played his 1,366th game in center field for the Angels, tying Jim Fregosi (1,366 games at shortstop) for the most games at one position in franchise history.

Blue Jays LHP Eric Lauer (1-3, 7.13 ERA) will face Angels RHP Jose Soriano (5-0, 0.28) in Wednesday’s series finale. Soriano won every start but allowed one run in 32 2/3 innings.
