The Portland Trail Blazers did it. They were tied 1-1 in the NBA playoff series back at the Moda Center despite some bad luck with Victor Wembanyama ultimately being ruled out. Normally, an upset like this means Deni Avdija breaks out, but that wasn’t the case in Game 2. Instead, Scoot Henderson suddenly broke out and scored 30 points, ending his 405-day scoring drought.

Trail Blazers beat Spurs in Game 2 of NBA playoffs thanks to Henderson heroics

Scoot Henderson started the attack after seeing Spurs without Victor Wembanyama after half-time. He played a crazy 38 minutes in Game 2, tormenting the Spurs defense. The Trail Blazers guard scored 31 points on 64.7% shooting. Most of his scoring came from beyond the arc, where he made five of his nine 3-point attempts.

This was the first time Henderson scored 30 points again on March 12, 2025. His performance against the Spurs defense in Game 2 of the NBA playoffs was the first time in 405 days that he topped the 30-point mark. It was also the highest score he had ever scored in the same amount of time, according to StatMuse.

Additionally, Henderson now joins Victor Wembanyama as the two players in the 2023 draft class to score 30 points in the NBA playoffs. If they continue down this path, Henderson will be a major key to the Trail Blazers’ deep run in the NBA playoffs. He became the primary scorer for Jrue Holiday, Deni Avdija, Robert Williams and Toumani Kamara.
