Jesse Minter embraces a support role on Ravens draft night

Ravens first-year head coach Jesse Minter said his role in Baltimore’s draft process will primarily be working with personnel staff, while making clear the final decision ultimately rests with general manager Eric DeCosta.

Minter described the coaching staff’s input as focusing on player attributes and health while emphasizing the support given to the front office during draft weekend.

“Yeah, it’s great. The leadership personnel staff [executive vice president and general manager] Eric [DeCosta]they did a great job preparing the coaching staff. So we’re getting into the process after they’ve been… they’ve been doing it all year, so we’re getting into the process later. My vision for coaching is, ‘Let’s talk about what these guys can do, whether it’s a first-round pick, a fifth-round pick, a seventh-round pick. Let’s find people with qualities that we can work with and that we’ll be excited to work with. “I thought the coaching staff did a really good job with that. And then on draft night, man, it was [to] let this guy [Eric DeCosta] Do his job, be there to support him, be there to talk things through, think things through, be a sounding board, but let him do the great job he does and I know we’re going to end up with a great group of players. “
