A man from North Carolina is now in the spotlight after uploading videos on social media that he claims show a neighbor being abused.
The video shows the old man outside in cold weather, wearing an orange shirt, a dirty adult diaper and a blank expression.
Jonathan Morris Pigford found the man on the street and helped him get home. However, Pigford met the man’s alleged caregiver, a woman, who told him to return the man to the street and send him home to teach him “a lesson.”
The problem escalated within seconds.
“You’re just using him to check,” Pigford told the woman, adding that he planned to notify authorities.
In another video, after their argument, Pigford explains that at the end of the day, all he cares about is the elderly man’s health.
“At the end of the day, I just want him to be safe and have his final days lived out honorably,” he said.
Additionally, Pigford said this is not an isolated case. According to his account, another neighbor saw the man washing with a garden hose in the backyard.
Pigford added that he was contacted by social services after his video went viral. He hopes social services can move the man to a more comfortable location and even provide him with better medical care.
“Hopefully they can rehome him or get him better care,” Pigford said.
Social services are currently investigating the case.
