Florida State’s tall senior center Micah Handlogten will enter the transfer portal when it opens at midnight on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
The 7-foot-1 reserve appeared in 34 games during the 2025-26 season, averaging 4.1 points and 5.9 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per game; he also tallied 30 blocks. Handloten is a key member of Todd Golden’s rotation, playing alongside Defensive Player of the Year Ruben Chinyelu at the five.

The frontcourt reserves this year received the Lt. Fred Koss Award, which honors ideal contributors who exemplify selfless courage and belief in the program’s pursuit of success.
Handloten will need some help getting through the portal, as his future eligibility is currently up in the air. He was originally scheduled to miss the entire 2024-25 season after suffering a severe leg fracture in the 2024 SEC Championship Game, but ultimately took off his medical redshirt and helped the Orange and Blue win their third national championship.
Now that four years of eligibility have expired, he hopes the NCAA will take mercy on his plight.
Handloten previously said he was “very optimistic” about getting an extra year. Todd Golden is also firmly on his side, fighting for an extra year.

“We’re still fighting for Micah to get back for another year, but we’re going to honor him tomorrow just in case we don’t succeed, and I’ve said it many times: I feel like he deserves the label of one of the most selfless Gator athletes this campus has ever had, especially in the basketball program,” Gordon said after Senior Night.
Handloten is the second Gator to enter the transfer portal after 7-foot-plus center Olivier Rieu opted to leave last week.
