Collin Gillespie spent several years knocking down 3-pointers in Villanova’s offense, and that has translated into NBA impact.
Gillespie hit two 3-pointers on Thursday night to push the Phoenix Suns’ season tally to 227 points. This set a new franchise record for three-pointers made in a season, surpassing Quentin Richardson’s mark of 226 set in the 2004-25 season.
Gillespie is shooting 40.7% from three-point range this season. He’s 227-for-557 this year. Gillespie has played in 75 games for the Suns this year, including 56 starts. This is the best year of his young career so far, averaging 13.1 points and 4.8 assists per game. He shot 42.3% from the field and 87.1% from the free throw line.

In 2024, Gillespie signed his third such contract with the Phoenix Suns. Last year, Gillespie signed a one-year, $2.3 million contract and showed he was committed.
At Villanova, Gillespie was a two-time Final Four selection and won a national championship in 2018. He was a two-time Big East Player of the Year and a third-team All-American as a senior.
