One of the key young players is All-Star outfielder Kyle Stowers. After a breakout season in 2025 in which he posted 3.6 bWAR with a .912 OPS, the Marlins seemed to have found a superstar on the rise.
However, as Christian De Nicola of MLB.com reported, the Marlins received some bad news regarding Stowers heading into the 2026 season. Stowers will start the year on the injured list, missing some time at the start of the 2026 regular season with a hamstring injury.

“Kyle Stowers will start the season with the Illinois #Marlins,” DeNicola reported. “Grade 1 hamstring strain. 3-4 weeks.”

This is tough news for the Marlins as Stowers, one of their best players, will be out for some time.
The 28-year-old left-handed outfielder could miss a month of the season with a hamstring issue.
After having such a strong 2025 season, with a .288 batting average, 25 homers, an All-Star selection, and 3.6 bWAR in his first breakout year as a career, there’s a lot of optimism surrounding Stowers heading into his fifth MLB season in 2026.

But now, he will start the season on the injured list with a hamstring issue that will keep him out for three to four weeks, and possibly longer depending on how he recovers.

This spring, Stowers played in six games, allowing three hits, one double, and no triples or home runs, with three walkouts and only two strikeouts in 13 at-bats, while batting .231 and posting an OPS of .719.
He’s a good player but will be limited in 2026 due to a hamstring injury. This is a heavy blow to the Marlins as one of their best players will miss some time to start the season.
