Southwest cancels Austin-Chicago O’Hare route as part of wider cuts

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Southwest Airlines will end nonstop service from Austin to Chicago O’Hare as part of broader cuts to “enhance the network.”

The airline announced it will cease all flights to O’Hare and Washington Dulles International Airport starting June 4. Southwest Airlines currently operates the AUS-ORD route, but does not offer direct flights from AUS to Dulles International Airport.

“These changes do not represent any significant changes to flight availability in these cities, and we will continue to provide robust service at Chicago Midway (MDW), Baltimore Washington International (BWI) and Washington Reagan National (DCA),” the airline said in a statement.
