Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown expressed his displeasure after Thursday night’s 102-104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, targeting Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s tendency to draw fouls.

“We give credit to guys for playing the game the right way, but we give credit to guys who are trying to fix the game…I just don’t think that’s basketball. All the foul baiting…that’s it to me,” Brown said.
Despite missing key rotation players, including Jayson Tatum, the Celtics kept the game within striking distance of the Western Conference leaders.
Brown’s comments reflect a growing conversation around the league about officiating and player habits that impact free throw attempts.
Brown has improved in 59 games this season, averaging 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists while shooting 47.9% from the field.

A starter on the All-Star team, the veteran wing has been a big presence recently, dishing out at least seven assists in seven straight games — the longest streak of his career — and nine of the last 10 games since the All-Star break.
Brown’s all-around influence stabilized the Celtics and kept them firmly entrenched in the Eastern Conference heading into the playoffs.
