Westmont Hilltop to face Hollidaysburg in LMHL title game

The Westmont Hilltoppers defeated defending Ann Harris Smith Trophy champion Central Cambria in double overtime on Tuesday night to earn a bid for this year’s Laurel Hill Hockey League championship.

In the semifinals, the second-seeded Hilltoppers won 2-1 with 2:39 left in the second overtime period.

Fourth-seeded Hollidaysburg defeated top-seeded State College 5-3.

Westmont Hilltop (13-5-1) faces Hollidaysburg (11-7-1) in the championship game Thursday at 6 p.m. at First Summit Arena at the Cambria County War Memorial.

Westmont Hilltop defeated Hollidaysburg 7-2 and 5-1 on Jan. 2 and March 3, respectively.

The Hilltoppers’ Ethan Downey had five goals and three assists (hat trick on March 3), Karen Carlson had one man-marker and four assists, and Colby Carlson had three goals and one assist in the previous game. Brett Huffman scored two goals in the latest win.

Central Cambria and Westmont Hilltop played two extended games in the regular season. On October 28, the Hilltoppers won 5-4 in overtime. In the penalty shootout on February 26, the Red Devils won 4-3.

During the regular season, Karen Carlson led Westmont Hilltop with 20 goals, 16 assists and 36 points.

Colby Carlson contributed 24 points, 11 assists and 35 points. Downey contributed 13 goals, 20 assists and 33 points. Hoffman scored 13 times. Ben Curry has a goals against average of 2.61 and a save percentage of 0.893. Megan Harbaugh has an overall GAA of 3.56 and a save percentage of .878.

Cole Hartman led Hollidaysburg with 25 goals and 20 assists for 45 points during the regular season. Jayden Mentzer tallied 35 points with 19 man-marks and 16 assists. Ty Fitzgerald had 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points. Noah Breton has a 4.39 GAA between the pipes and a 0.842 save percentage.

Hollidaysburg went 1-2-0 against State College in the regular season, winning 4-3 and losing 10-4 and 4-1.

Central Cambria defeated Forest Hills 11-5 in the 2025 league championship game.
