JD Power recently announced the most reliable mass-market vehicle brands in its 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study. This car brand might not be the easiest one to think of, so we’ve featured it above. If you’re still not sure, the brand is Buick, which sells four different vehicles in the United States, all of which are SUVs. Buick cars are produced in multiple factories around the world.
According to JD Power, Buick ranks second overall, just behind luxury class champion Lexus. Lexus’ winning score was just 151 problems per 100 cars, while Buick was close behind with 160 problems per 100 cars. Even though Buick performed very well in this study, there are still some used Buick models that you should avoid at all costs.
The study also yielded some other interesting findings. Based on three years of consumer experience with new car purchases in 2023, the company found more problems than recorded the previous year, with an industry average of 204 problems per 100 vehicles. The biggest problem area remains infotainment systems, with 56.7 problems per 100 vehicles, followed by vehicle exteriors, with 27.5 problems per 100 vehicles. One area of particular concern relates to over-the-air updates – only 27% of people who received over-the-air updates in the past 12 months noticed an improvement, while 58% didn’t notice any difference.

Buick is part of General Motors. Of its vehicles sold in the U.S., the Buick Enclave (which we liked a lot in our review of the 2025 model ) is the only one made in the U.S., at GM’s plant in Lansing, Michigan — at least for now. The Buick Envision is currently built by General Motors in China, but the next generation of the car is planned to be built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Equinox at a plant in Kansas City, Kansas. The two Buicks for sale here were imported from South Korea. They are the Buick Envista and Buick Encore GX, the two smallest models in the Buick lineup.
In terms of pricing, the 2026 Buick Envista Preferred is the entry-level Buick model, only available with front-wheel drive, priced at $26,495, not including destination charges. Next up is the front-wheel-drive Buick Encore Preferred GX, starting at $27,995 (not including destination charge), with an all-wheel-drive option available for $2,000. The second most expensive Buick is the Envision Preferred, which comes standard with all-wheel drive and starts at $42,995. At the top of the Buick lineup is the Enclave Preferred, which starts at $48,395 and comes standard with front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive optional for an additional $2,000. In addition to the entry-level Preferred trim, each Buick model is also available in two higher trim levels. They are the mid-level Sport Touring and the high-end Avenir.
